CES-D Depression Screening

The Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale is a validated 20-item self-report measure of depressive symptoms over the past week, developed by the NIMH and widely used in clinical and research settings.

This is a validated screening instrument for informational and self-monitoring purposes only. It is not a diagnostic tool and does not replace professional clinical evaluation. If you are in crisis, contact 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline or call 911.

Below is a list of ways you might have felt or behaved. Please indicate how often you have felt this way during the past week.

0 = Rarely or none of the time (<1 day)1 = Some or a little (1-2 days)2 = Occasionally or a moderate amount (3-4 days)3 = Most or all of the time (5-7 days)
