Where Do I Feel It?

Emotions show up in the body: a tight chest, a knot in the stomach, heavy legs. Map where you feel each one to build somatic awareness and put words to what’s happening inside.

Pick a feeling, then tap the parts of your body where you notice it. You can mark more than one feeling. Whatever feels true for you right now counts.

Marking: Anger

Your body map

Nothing marked yet. Pick a feeling and tap the body.

Inspired by research mapping where people feel emotions in their bodies (Nummenmaa, Glerean, Hari & Hietanen, 2014, PNAS). Everyone’s map looks a little different.

A reflective awareness exercise for informational and self-monitoring use. It is not a diagnostic tool and does not replace professional clinical care. If you are in crisis, contact 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline or call 911.
