The complete VA therapist's manual for Cognitive Processing Therapy adapted for veterans and service members, written by the treatment's developers. It walks through all 12 sessions with sample dialogue, session summaries, and progress notes, and a companion volume contains every patient handout.
CPT is a first-line PTSD treatment in the VA/DoD clinical practice guideline, so trauma clinics and training programs still work from this manual.
Run it with these materials
The cognitive distortions and thought challenging worksheets mirror CPT's ABC sheets and challenging questions, and the free PCL-5 covers the symptom monitoring CPT scores at every session.
This manual is a publication of U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Therapy Resource is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, its publisher.
