Anger Episode Tracker

A Structured Log for Understanding Triggers, Responses, and Consequences

Anger often builds gradually beneath conscious awareness before erupting in ways that feel sudden and uncontrollable. Tracking anger episodes in a structured format helps you identify patterns in your triggers, recognize early warning signs, evaluate your responses, and understand the consequences of your actions. Over time, this awareness creates the space needed to choose more effective responses.

After each anger episode, complete one row as soon as possible while the experience is still fresh. Record what set off your anger (trigger), the physical sensations and emotional cues that signaled anger was building (warning signs), what you did at the peak of your anger (response), and what happened as a result (outcome). Rate the intensity of each episode from 1 (mild irritation) to 10 (most intense anger you have experienced).
