A 16-week group CBT protocol for depression in clients receiving substance-use treatment, in four modules: Thoughts, Activities, People, and Substance Use. Its defining feature is who it was written for: BRIGHT was designed and trialed for delivery by addiction counselors rather than mental health specialists, so every session is fully scripted with leader language, exercises, and member handouts.
The companion Group Member's Workbook is also free. A successor, BRIGHT-2, integrates the substance-use strategies throughout an 18-week program for co-occurring depression and SUD, with its own free member workbook.
Run it with these materials
The addiction collection's trigger and relapse worksheets pair with BRIGHT's substance-use module, and the activation sheets carry its Activities module homework.
